Yoga for the Desk Jockey ™: Clear Your Eyes, Ease Your Brain

By Susi Hately, B.Sc. Kinesiology, C-IAYT Yoga Therapist

After a few hours in front of a computer it can be astonishing how the eyes become so dry. The dryness creeps up, just underneath your conscious awareness, as you are typing away, creatively spinning out answers to questions, finishing projects, answering emails. It seems too that as the eyes get dry, so does the creativity in the brain. It is harder to concentrate, focus and relax. So today’s post is in honour of that dryness –  these two tips will help prevent parched eyes.

They take less than 2 minutes each.

  1. Every 30 minutes look away from your screen, and focus on something more than 10 feet away.
  2. Every hour, get up and walk away from your screen. Completely. Plan for  this to be your water break, or take 2 minutes to stretch, breathe and move your body.

Here is a short how to video for some movements you can do.

Enjoy!
